Tucumcari Mountain is a bouldering area in New Mexico, about 3 miles from the town of Tucumcari. It is a compact climbing destination, with seven boulder problems clustered in one place and all rated on the V scale from V0 up to V3-4. The most comfortable time to go is spring or fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Tucumcari run about 73°F in April and 75°F in October, while July highs reach about 95°F and winter nights dip into the mid-20s. The boulders are all on the same rock, and several of the routes have been climbed by Dave Huntzinger. Eastern Traverse is the easiest at V0, Crooked Rain and Hobson's Choice are the hardest at V3-4, and Dinosaur Jr. sits right at V3. Plaza Larga Creek, about 5 miles away, is the nearest paddling spot.
