Deadman is a mountain biking route on the Manzanita Mountains Trail System in the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest, about 1.6 miles from the district's boundaries. The Forest Service manages the land, and the ride is rated easy. The out-and-back trip covers about 3.3 miles, climbing from roughly 7,272 feet to 7,619 feet. That makes for a gentle ascent, and the route pairs well with other trails in the area. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from the Sandia Park weather station, about 14 miles away, show May highs near 73°F and September highs near 77°F. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the route, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. Pine Flat and Gambel are hikes within half a mile, and the Deadman Sidekick lies about 0.5 miles away. Climbers can find Block Wall about 2 miles off.
