The route is about 17.4 miles long, with a one-way climb of 2,149 feet from a low point of 6,321 feet to a high of 8,289 feet. It is rated hard. The trail makes a full day of work, with the high point near 8,300 feet. Plan for a long, steep outing. The nearest town is Silver City, about 10 miles away. Several other hikes sit within a few miles, including Woodhaul Wagon Road at about 1.2 miles and Signal Peak at about 2.5 miles. Bear Canyon Trail is about 2.7 miles away, and Lake Roberts, a fishing spot, is about 7.2 miles off.
