About this water

The Pequest River below the state hatchery is one of New Jersey's most productive trout streams, receiving heavy stocking of rainbow and brown trout throughout the season. The river features classic riffle-pool structure ideal for fly fishing and spin fishing, with easy wading access along much of its length. The stretch near the hatchery is especially popular in spring when fresh stockings draw large numbers of anglers.
