Fern Hill
About
Fern Hill is a summit in southwestern New Hampshire, about 1.3 miles from the town of Troy. Late summer into early fall makes for the most comfortable visits. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Jaffrey put September highs around 73°F with lows near 51°F, and since that station sits a few hundred feet below the hill, temperatures on top run a little cooler. Winter is cold: typical January highs reach only about 32°F, with lows around 13°F. Several outings lie close by. The Monadnock Recreational Rail Trail is about 2 miles away, and the Old Halfway House Trail and Cart Path are each about 3 miles off. Climbers can head to Revolutionary War Boulder, roughly 6 miles away.
