Calico Basin is a climbing area in Nevada's Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. It sits among a cluster of crags, trails and other climbing spots, with several named places within about a tenth of a mile. The area has 52 routes, including 27 boulders, 13 sport routes and 10 traditional routes. Grades run from YDS 5.3 to 5.13b and from V0 to V10. Among the named routes are "Because I was Weak" (5.3, trad), "Vera's Roof" (5.9, boulder) and "La Fin Du Monde" (5.13b, sport). Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show April highs around 70°F and October highs around 75°F, while July and August average in the mid-90s. Red Rock Canyon Campground is about 2.8 miles away.
