Joe Billy South Campsite

Joe Billy South Campsite is a short, low-elevation ride on Forest Service land in the Mountain City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest in Nevada. The climb is under half a mile long, rising 207 feet from about 8,863 feet to a high point of 9,072 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.2 miles into the ride, with a grade of about 12 percent. The campsite sits on the southern side of the Joe Billy area. Joe Billy North Campsite lies about 0.8 miles away, and Joe Billy Basin is about 1.1 miles off. For a longer mountain biking outing, the Griswold-Soldier route is about 2.8 miles away. Thomas Canyon Campground, about 4.4 miles away, offers another place to camp in the area.
