Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park is a climbing area in Montana, managed by the National Park Service. It sits within the boundaries of Glacier National Park, and a park fee is charged. The climbing here is alpine, with routes that range from about 5.7 to 5.9 on the YDS scale. The Northwest Chimney Route, Put Me on a Pedestal and NE Ridge, Mt. St. Nicholas are among the named routes, with first ascents going back to the 1920s. One boulder route also appears in the area. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby St Mary weather station run to highs around 75°F in July, with lows in the mid-40s. Winter highs there stay near 29°F. Several hikes lie within a few miles, including Lincoln Creek Trail at 2.5 miles and Sperry Glacier Trail at 4.4 miles. Belton Bridge at Glacier National Park is a climbing area about 8.6 miles away, and Apgar Group Sites offers camping at 8.7 miles.
