Pine Tree Road is a short, easy mountain biking route in the Bozeman Ranger District of Custer Gallatin National Forest in Montana, managed by the Forest Service. The out-and-back ride covers about 4 miles, with a total elevation gain of 984 feet, and it starts at roughly 7,200 feet, climbing to about 7,700 feet before returning. The route is rated easy, and the steepest stretch comes early on, around 0.5 miles in, where the grade reaches about 14 percent. That makes the climb a manageable challenge for riders looking to get a little elevation on a short trip. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Big Sky show July highs around 78°F with lows near 41°F, and the station sits about 1,100 feet lower than the route's high point, so temperatures on the road run cooler. Pioneer Lakes Trail and Lake of the Pines Trail both lie about 0.6 miles away. Greek Creek and Swan Creek campgrounds are each about 2.9 miles off, and the Gorilla Block climbing area is about 3.1 miles away.
