High Water 101A is a short mountain biking route in Montana's Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, within the Rocky Mountain Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land. It covers about 1.2 miles, climbing roughly 140 feet from a starting elevation of about 5,180 feet to a high point of about 5,307 feet. The climb is gentle, with the steepest stretch coming at about 0.35 miles in, where the grade reaches 8 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical July and August highs average about 74°F with lows in the mid-40s, based on averages from a nearby weather station at E Glacier. That station sits about 500 feet lower than the route, so temperatures on the trail run somewhat cooler. The High Water 101.1B hike starts about 0.6 miles away, and the Kraigs Trail-Pike Cr mountain biking route is about a mile off. Elk Calf Mtn is about 1.1 miles away, and Summit Campground offers a place to camp about 2.7 miles from the trail.
