Trio Lakes is a short, out-and-back hike of about 1.8 miles in the Ninemile Ranger District of Lolo National Forest in western Montana. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is rated hard, with a one-way climb of about 180 feet from a low point of roughly 5,811 feet to a high of about 5,954 feet. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows both horses and bikes, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. The route is short and the climb is modest, so the hike is more about the destination than the effort to get there. Dalton Lake and Lightning-Windfall are both within about 2 miles, and Pearl Lake is a little farther at about 2.6 miles. For an overnight base, Clearwater Crossing Campground sits about 6.4 miles away.
