Montreal Gulch is a moderate out-and-back hike of about 3.5 miles in the Superior Ranger District of Montana's Lolo National Forest. The trail rises from a low point of about 4,200 feet to a high point of about 5,770 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 3,100 feet, so it is as much a climb as a route. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at a similar elevation show July and August highs around 70°F with only about six wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the upper 20s. The trail is open year-round, and the trip takes about 2.5 hours. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surface, so it is suitable for both horses and bikes. Trout Creek Driveway starts just 0.1 mile away. Nearby, Oregon Lakes and Trail Lake are both about 4 miles off, Trout Creek offers canoeing at about 4 miles, and Trout Cr Campground is about 7 miles away.
