Limburger Spring is a moderate out-and-back hike in Montana's Helena Ranger District, part of the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, about 4.5 miles long and roughly 1,000 feet in elevation gain. The trail starts near 7,040 feet and climbs to about 7,064 feet before returning, with the steepest stretch around 1.7 miles in at a 24% grade. The trail is natural-surface and allows bikes, so you can ride it as well as walk. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is open year-round, with an estimated trip time of about 2.5 hours. Summer is the most comfortable season. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Butte, at a lower elevation, show July highs around 81°F and lows near 46°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures up high run cooler. Kading and the Kading Cabin and Kading Campground lie about a mile away. Blackfoot Meadows is about 1.6 miles off.
