Bonnet Top is a moderate hike in Montana's Kootenai National Forest, on the Three Rivers Ranger District. It is an out-and-back route of about 6.5 miles, with a total elevation gain of about 1,156 feet, climbing from roughly 4,130 feet to about 5,558 feet at the top. The trailhead is Bonnet Top TH 583, and the Forest Service manages the land. The trail is open from about May 1 through November 30. Bikes are allowed, and the trail surface is natural. Plan for the full round trip and allow time for the climb, which makes this a hike for the middle of the day rather than a quick outing. The trail is rated moderate, so expect some steady effort on the way up. Nearby, the North Fork Yaak River and West Fork Yaak River hikes sit within about 4 miles, and the Yaak River offers canoeing about 4.5 miles away.
