Van Deriet Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Rocky Mountain Ranger District of Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest in Montana. It sits about a mile from Vanderiet Memorial Pilots Campground and Benchmark Campground, and the nearest town is Lewis and Clark, about 10 miles away. The campsite is not reservable, so plan on arriving with the intention of securing a spot on the day you go. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical July averages from a nearby weather station at Gibson Dam run to highs around 79°F and lows near 45°F, and the station sits roughly 800 feet lower than the campground, so expect it to run a little cooler. Fairview Creek, about a mile away, and Patrol Mountain Lookout, about 1.4 miles away, offer hiking close by. South Fork Campground is about 2 miles away, and the South Fork Sun River, a canoeing route, is about 2.7 miles away.
