Sylvia Lake Campground is a small Forest Service campground in the Tally Lake Ranger District of Montana's Flathead National Forest. It sits at the edge of Sylvia Lake, which holds native grayling and cuttroat trout, and offers a small boat ramp for fishing boats, canoes and kayaks. The campground has three designated campsites, each with a picnic table, a fire ring and a vault toilet. The site is not reservable, so plan on arriving and securing a spot on the ground. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 78°F with lows in the low 40s and only about six wet days a month. That station sits roughly 1,500 feet lower than the lake, so temperatures at the water run cooler. Several hikes lie within a few miles, including Flathead at 3 miles and Dunsire Pass at 4.5 miles. Star Meadows Guard Station, about 5.6 miles away, is another camping option.
