Tettegouche State Park
About
Tettegouche State Park is a Minnesota state park managed by State Park and Recreation, about 4 miles from the town of Silver Bay. The park is a base for several trails and activities close together. Some suit hiking and others are set up for cross-country skiing in winter. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. A nearby weather station records typical July highs around 76°F with lows in the mid-50s, and from June through September typical averages run from the mid-40s to the mid-70s. Winters are cold, with typical January highs near 19°F. That makes the colder months the season for the park's ski trails rather than casual outings. The Tettegouche Trail lies under a mile away for hikers. Skiers can reach the Superior Hiking Trail spur and the Nipisiquit Lake Trail at about the same distance. Climbers will find the Mystical Mountain Zone roughly 3 miles off, and paddlers can head to the Beaver River, about 8.5 miles away.
