Wetzel Recreation Area is an 899-acre state park and recreation property in southeast Michigan, about 2.6 miles from the town of New Haven. It is managed by Michigan's state park agency. Late spring through early fall is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 68°F in May to about 82°F in July, with September easing back to the low 70s. For more time outdoors in the area, the North Branch Clinton River and Middle Branch Clinton River, both canoeing routes, lie within about 7 miles. The Macomb Orchard Trail is roughly 8.7 miles away.
