Shutesbury State Forest is a 74-acre state forest in western Massachusetts, about 9 miles from Amherst Town. It is managed by the state park agency, State Park and Recreation. Late spring through early fall is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Leverett show September highs around 74°F with lows near 50°F, while July highs reach about 83°F. Several other outdoor spots lie within a short drive. The Pond Loop Trail (white) is about 3.5 miles away and the M&M Trail (Old Route) about 4 miles. Climbers can head to Neverland Crag, roughly 6 miles off, and paddlers will find the Sawmill River about 6.3 miles away.
