Berlin Boulder is a bouldering area in Massachusetts, about a mile from the town of West Berlin. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, with Welcome Boulder and Garfield Woods each about a third of a mile away and The Anvil about 0.4 miles off. The place is built around 14 bouldering routes, all of them rated from V0 to V8 on the V scale. Most of the routes are straightforward boulders rather than climbs, and the grade range runs from the easiest V0 up to V8. Steve Angelini, a local climber, did many of the first ascents in the 1980s, including Flake Out and Sandals at V0, Pregnancy Test at V1 and Raspberry Jam at V5. The hardest of them is Low Traverse at V8. The warmest stretch for climbing runs from June through August, when typical highs reach the upper 70s to around 83°F with lows in the 50s and 60s, based on averages from a nearby weather station. Late spring and early fall are milder, with May highs near 70°F and September near 74°F. For time off the rock, the North Brook Trail is about 1.2 miles away, the Great Oak Farm Trail is about 1.8 miles away, and the Wachusett Reservoir fishing access is about 4.7 miles away.
