Powerline Trail is a short, easy mountain biking route in Maryland, about half a mile from Ancient Oak North. The trail is an out-and-back, roughly 1.2 miles long, with a front-loaded climb that peaks at about 417 feet. The one-way elevation gain is 83 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.3 miles in, with a grade of about 4 percent. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Rockville show May highs around 74°F and October highs around 66°F, while July averages climb to about 87°F. Seneca Ridge Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and Hadcon Trail is about half a mile off. Pepco Trail, another mountain biking route, lies about a mile away, and Seneca Creek offers canoeing about 3.3 miles from the trail.
