Waska Loop is a short, easy cross-country ski loop in northern Maine, about 0.8 miles long and rising from roughly 912 feet to 939 feet. It sits in Fort Kent Mills, about half a mile from the town, and makes a quick addition to a day spent on the surrounding network of ski routes. The loop is a low-effort outing. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.4 miles in, with a grade of about 3 percent, and the total climb is only about 34 feet. That makes it a natural choice for a warm-up or a break between longer routes. Winter is the season for skiing here. Typical averages from the nearby Ft Kent weather station show January highs around 19°F with lows near -3°F, while March runs a bit milder, with highs around 33°F. The station sits about 330 feet lower than the loop, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. Several other ski routes lie within a short distance. Stadium, Penalty Loop and Camel Humps are each about 0.1 mile away, and Volunteer Way is about 0.2 mile off.
