Baker Pond Trail is a short, out-and-back cross-country ski route in the Katahdin Iron Works, a non-governmental land unit in Maine. The trail is just under a mile long, with a high point of about 1,673 feet and a low of about 1,625 feet. It rises from a starting elevation of about 1,638 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 7% grade near the beginning. Winter is the natural season for this route. Typical January highs run around 23°F with lows near 5°F at a nearby weather station in Greenville, and February is similar. The station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the higher ground run cooler. The Baker Loop Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Pearl Ponds Trail and Horseshoe Pond Trail are both within about a mile. For hiking, the Brook Trail lies roughly 1.5 miles off.
