The Moose & Kennebec River Valleys climbing area in Maine sits about 3.5 miles from the town of The Highlands. It is a bouldering and alpine climbing destination with nine routes, five of which are boulders and three are alpine, and it works well as a base for exploring the surrounding trails and ski touring areas. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Greenville run to highs around 75°F in July and 74°F in August, with lows in the mid-50s. Winters are cold, with January highs near 23°F. The bouldering routes here range from V0 to V6, with The Ghost Ship at V3 and Void Crack at V4. The alpine routes are a separate set. The Green Trail and Red Trail are both within about a mile and a half, and the Big Moose Mountain Trail is roughly 5 miles away.
