Rim Trail is a 2.8-mile moderate hike in Maine, managed by the National Park Service and set within the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. The route is an out-and-back that starts and ends at about 1,167 feet, with a high point of 1,173 feet. The climb totals 421 feet of elevation gain, and the steepest stretch comes at about mile 1, where the grade reaches 28%. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run to highs around 75°F in July, with lows near 57°F. Winters are cold, with January highs around 23°F. The trail sits close to several other routes.
