Katahdin View is an easy out-and-back hike in northern Maine, about 6 miles from the town of Norcross. The route is roughly 3.3 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 390 feet, and it reaches a high point of 802 feet. The climb is gentle, with the steepest stretch at about 1.5 miles in, where the grade reaches 8 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Millinocket show July highs around 78°F with lows near 57°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s. That station sits about 440 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the summit run cooler. The hike pairs easily with other outings. The Twin Pines Loop and Saddle Loop cross-country ski trails and the Black Cat Peak mountain biking route all start within a tenth of a mile. The Golden Road hike is about 0.4 miles away.
