Lone Rock Trail is a short, easy loop in Rock Cut State Park in Illinois, managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. The trail is about half a mile long, with a total elevation gain of 46 feet and a high point of 853 feet. It is a low-effort outing, and the climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.16 miles in. The trail is a loop, so it starts and ends at the same point. Bikes are allowed, but horses are not. The trip takes about half an hour, making it a quick addition to a visit to the park. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Beloit, Wisconsin, show July highs around 80°F with lows near 60°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s. Other places to explore in the park include the park's other trails and the surrounding state park land.
