Blanchard is a 1.5-mile out-and-back hike in the Hidden Springs Ranger District of Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is rated hard, with a total climb of 436 feet and a steepest grade of about 10% at roughly 0.34 miles in. The route is on natural surface, and horses are allowed. Bikes are not. The trail starts and ends at about 547 feet, rising to 710 feet before returning. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Rosiclare show May highs around 75°F and October highs near 69°F, with July and August peaking around 86°F. Several other trails sit close by.
