Kestrel #39A is a short, easy mountain biking route in Idaho's Hulls Gulch Reserve, a city-managed reserve. The ride is under a mile long and climbs about 90 feet, with the steepest stretch at roughly 7% grade near the start. The route is an out-and-back, with a low point of 2,904 feet and a high of 2,986 feet. It sits within the reserve, and the trailhead is close to several other spots, including the #29 Lower Hulls Gulch and #39 Owls Roost mountain biking routes and the Chickadee Ridge #36A hike, all about 0.1 mile away. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to ride. Typical averages from the Boise airport weather station, about 6 miles away, show May highs around 72°F and October highs around 65°F. Summer runs hot, with July highs near 93°F, while winter brings highs near 39°F and some snow days.
