Stubtoe is a short, easy out-and-back hike in Idaho's Idaho Panhandle National Forests, within the St. Joe Ranger District. The trail is about 1.3 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 585 feet, taking you from a low point of about 3,100 feet to a high of about 3,700 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open from June 1 to September 30. It is a natural-surface route, and both horses and bikes are allowed. It is not an accessible trail. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run to highs around 84°F in July, with lows in the low 40s. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run a little cooler. Nearby, Spotted Louis is about a mile away and Brush Hill is about 2 miles off. Steamboat Lake and Buzzard Saddle are both within about 4 miles.
