Nez Perce Ridge is a moderate out-and-back hike in Idaho's Salmon-Challis National Forest, on the North Fork Ranger District. The trail runs about 5.8 miles, with a one-way elevation gain of 2,889 feet, from a low point of 5,055 feet to a high of 7,988 feet. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is natural-surfaced, with horses and bikes allowed. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Jackson, Montana, show July highs around 77°F with lows near 42°F, and the station sits about 1,500 feet lower than the ridge's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. The trail is open year-round. Three Mile Ridge lies about a mile away, and Anderson Mtn Loop is roughly 3.6 miles off. For an overnight base, May Creek Cabin is about 5 miles away, and the North Fork Salmon River offers canoeing about 6 miles out.
