Martin Creek is a hard hike in the St. Joe Ranger District of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 6.4 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 1,562 feet, and it follows a natural surface. It is an out-and-back route, starting at a low point of about 4,218 feet and reaching a high of about 5,780 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mullan Pass show July and August highs around 70°F with only about six wet days a month, while winter highs stay near 28°F. The trail is open to bikes and horses, and it is not an accessible route. Cataract Creek, Northbound Creek and Skyland Lake are all about a mile away. Surveyors Lookout campground sits about 2 miles off.
