Deep Creek-Beaver Jack is a hard hike in Idaho's Bitterroot National Forest, within the West Fork Ranger District about 5 miles from the town of Upper Crossing. The route is an out-and-back that climbs from a low point of about 4,100 feet to a high of roughly 7,070 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 2,950 feet over a distance of about 8 miles. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 76°F with lows in the upper 30s, while winter highs stay near freezing. Deep Creek Campground sits just 0.1 mile from the trail, and Magruder Rangers House and the Kim Creek and Selway River - Fcronr hikes are each about 0.9 mile away. Paddlers can reach the Selway River about 6 miles off.
