Bussel Creek is a hard hike in the St. Joe Ranger District of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 9.3 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 516 feet, and it follows a natural surface. It is an out-and-back route, starting at a low point of about 3,080 feet and reaching a high of about 3,728 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Mullan, which sits a few hundred feet lower, show July and August highs around 81°F with lows near 49°F. Winter is cold, with January highs around 35°F and lows near 23°F. The trail is open to both horses and bikes. It is not an accessible trail. Camp 3 is about a mile away, and Bear Creek and Hobo Historical are both within 3 miles. The St. Joe River Area, about 4.6 miles off, offers river fishing.
