San Pedro Underwater Archaeological Preserve State Park is a 644-acre state park in Florida, about 9 miles from the town of Layton. It is managed by the state park agency, State Park and Recreation. The most comfortable stretch for a visit runs from about November through April, when typical highs at the nearby Islamorada weather station range from the mid-70s to the low 80s and wet days are few. Summer is hotter and wetter, with typical highs near 89°F and about 10 wet days a month in July and August. For a change of pace, the Hammock Trail hike lies about 8 miles away.
