Sunset Beach: Sand Path

Sand Path is a public beach access point in Sunset Beach, Florida, sitting right in town about a tenth of a mile from its center. It serves as a simple way onto the sand rather than a destination with a route of its own. Typical averages from the St. Petersburg weather station, about 8.5 miles away, show mild winters and hot, wet summers. January runs from highs around 70°F to lows near 54°F, and December is similar at about 72°F and 58°F. Spring warms steadily, with March near 76°F and April around 82°F. April is also one of the drier months, with about five wet days. From June through September, highs sit near 90°F and lows stay in the mid-70s. Rain picks up sharply in those months, with July and August each averaging about 15 wet days. October cools to around 84°F, and November drops to roughly 77°F with only about five wet days. Snow doesn't figure in at any time of year. For warm but less humid beach days, late fall through spring is the most comfortable window, while midsummer visits are best planned around frequent rain. For time off the sand, Skyway Trail lies about 5.6 miles away, and the Barrier Free Nature Trail is roughly 9.5 miles out.
