Red Gate Trail is a short, easy hike in Connecticut, about 1.5 miles from the community of Kent Furnace. The trail is 0.74 miles long, with a one-way climb of about 160 feet from a low point of 812 feet to a high of 961 feet. The steepest stretch comes early on, with a 25% grade at about 0.05 miles in. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the Falls Village weather station, about 14 miles away, show May highs near 72°F and September highs near 75°F, with July the warmest month at about 85°F. The trail sits among several other short hikes. Pond Trail and Saturday Afternoon Trail are each about 0.1 mile away, and Escarpment Trail is about 0.2 mile off. Climbers can find EMC Wall roughly 0.8 mile away.
