Deer Creek Canyon Park

Deer Creek Canyon Park is a Jefferson County Open Space park in Colorado, about a mile from the community of Phillipsburg. Typical averages from the Kassler weather station, about 5 miles away at 5,587 feet, show a long, mild season. Spring warms from highs in the mid-50s in March to around 60°F in April and near 70°F in May, with lows climbing from the mid-20s to the low 40s. Summer is hot: highs reach about 81°F in June and peak near 87°F in July, with lows in the 50s. July and August average about nine wet days each, matching May for the most of the year. September stays warm at about 78°F, and October cools to the mid-60s with lows in the mid-30s. Winter highs sit in the mid-to-upper 40s from December through February, with lows near 17°F and only four or five wet days a month. Trails and climbing start right around the park. The Golden Eagle Trail and Homesteader Trail are both within a third of a mile, and Fireblack Boulder offers climbing less than half a mile away. For an overnight stay, Chatfield Campground is about 5.5 miles off.
