Rhubarb Trail is a cross-country ski route in Colorado, about 7 miles from the town of New Castle. The trail is short, roughly 1.5 miles long, and it rises from about 7,900 feet to about 8,000 feet, with a total gain of 206 feet and a loss of 255 feet over the course of the run. The steepest stretch comes at about half a mile in, where the grade reaches 14 percent. Winter is the natural season for this trail. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show January highs around 35°F with lows near 9°F, while June and July run in the upper 70s and low 80s. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the trail run slightly cooler. Two other cross-country ski routes, Home Trail and Tower Trail, both lie about 0.4 miles away. For a change of pace, Divide Creek offers canoeing about 6 miles off, and Elk Creek Campground is about 9 miles away.
