The Nappy Dugout climbing area is a City Land site within Rifle Mountain Park in western Colorado, about 10 miles from the town of Rifle. It sits among several other climbing areas in the park, and two of them, Sanctuary and Wasteland, are each about a tenth of a mile away, making this a cluster of bouldering and climbing spots rather than a single destination. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall stand out. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 72°F and September highs around 79°F, while July peaks near 88°F and winter highs hover in the upper 30s. The Bobcat Trail is about 1.4 miles away, and Rifle Mountain Park campground is about 1.6 miles off. Farther out, Lakeview Campground is about 5.8 miles away and the paddling on Main Elk Creek is roughly 7.9 miles away.
