The Gash is a climbing area in the Sopris Ranger District of White River National Forest in Colorado, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among several other climbing spots, with Left Side about 0.1 mile away and Schoolyard, The about 0.2 mile away. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Aspen run to highs around 77°F in June and 82°F in July, with September easing to about 72°F. Winters are cold, with January highs near 35°F and lows around 9°F. Avalanche Campground is about 1.5 miles away, and Redstone Family Campground is about 2.3 miles away.
