Death by Wildlife is a climbing area in Colorado's Pike and San Isabel National Forests, within the South Platte Ranger District and managed by the Forest Service. It sits in a cluster of trails and crags, with two hikes, Rusty Buckle and North Elk Creek Trail #764, each about 0.3 miles away. The area offers 10 routes, a mix of sport and trad climbing. The YDS grades run from 5.5 up to 5.11c, with Bear Bait at 5.10b and Candiru Kisses at 5.11c among the standouts. The climbing is a blend of styles, and the routes are spread across the crag rather than grouped into a single boulder or wall. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. At the Grant weather station, about 15 miles away, typical July averages are a high of 75°F and a low of 43°F, and the site sits a few hundred feet higher than the station, so temperatures here run slightly cooler. Nearby climbing includes Park View Dome, about a mile away, and The Ranch Hand, at about 1.1 miles. For an overnight stay, Meridian Campground is about 6.4 miles off.
