Austen Boulder is a climbing area in western Colorado on public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management's Grand Junction Field Office. It sits among a tight cluster of boulders, so it works well as one stop in a session that moves between several problems close together. The most comfortable climbing weather comes in spring and fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show highs around 74°F in May and 66°F in October, while July averages reach about 93°F and January highs sit near 39°F. The closest neighbors are each about 0.1 mile away: U.S.S. Boulder, Thriller Boulder and Holiday Boulder. About 0.4 mile out, the Tabeguache Trail adds hiking options for a rest day or a longer visit.
