McGrath State Beach
About
McGrath State Beach is a 308-acre California state park managed by the state park agency, about 3 miles from San Buenaventura (Ventura). It is one of the closest state park units to town, which makes it an easy add to a stay in the Ventura area. The weather is mild all year. Late summer and early fall are the most comfortable stretch, with typical highs around 73 to 74°F and lows near 60°F from July through September at a nearby weather station in Oxnard. Those months also average only one or two wet days each. Winter is cooler and a bit wetter, with highs in the mid-60s and about six wet days a month. For more time outdoors nearby, the Barlow Canyon Trail is about 4 miles away. The Ventura Botanical Gardens Trail and the Jerry Revard Nature Trail are each just under 5 miles out, and the 101 Trail is about 6 miles away.
