Little River State Beach
About
Little River State Beach is a 213-acre state park on the California coast, about 1.7 miles from Westhaven-Moonstone. It is managed by the state's park and recreation agency. Summer and early fall are the driest and mildest stretch to visit. Typical averages from the Arcata Eureka airport weather station, 2.6 miles away, show highs in the low to mid 60s from July through September, with only about five to nine wet days a month. Winter brings highs in the mid 50s and rain on 17 to 19 days a month. The Backdunes Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Moonstone Beach climbing area is under a mile off. A little farther, about 4 to 5 miles out, are the Hammond Trail and the Hiller Loop Trail.
