Camping is the main draw here: the park holds nine campgrounds within its boundaries, making it a practical base for exploring the surrounding area. Late spring and early fall tend to be the most comfortable times to visit. At a weather station about 14 miles away, typical averages run near 73°F for highs in May and 75°F in October, while July and August average highs around 91°F with essentially no rain. Kelsey Creek Trail sits just 0.7 miles from the park, and Adobe Creek, about 5 miles out, offers a canoeing option.
