Castle Rock State Park
About
Castle Rock State Park is a California state park about 6 miles from the town of Saratoga. The park is managed by California's state park and recreation agency, and it serves as a base for the hiking trails and climbing areas that sit just beyond its boundaries. Late spring through early fall is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Skyline Ridge Preserve show highs in the mid-70s in June and around 80°F in July and August, with rain on only a day or two a month. Winter is cooler and wetter, with highs in the mid-50s and rain on about 14 days a month. Several trails start close by. The Ridge Trail is under a mile away, and the Saratoga Gap Trail and San Lorenzo Redwoods Nature Trail are both about 0.7 miles off. Climbers can head to Goat Rock and its circuit, about a mile out.
