T J Lake is a bouldering area in the Mammoth Ranger District of Inyo National Forest in California, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing and mountain biking spots, with T J Swan Cliff and Way Warm-up Wall both about 0.2 miles away and the Tj Lake Loop mountain biking route just 0.1 mile off. The climbing here is all bouldering, with four routes spread across the V0 to V6 range. Shady White Dikes is the easiest at V0, and There Is No Spoon is the hardest at V6. The area is best suited to climbers who want to warm up on smaller problems before moving on to more challenging boulders. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mammoth Lakes, which sits about 1,500 feet lower, show July highs around 78°F with lows near 49°F. That station's figures are not directly comparable to conditions at the boulders, which sit higher, so expect cooler temperatures there. Lake George Campground is about half a mile away, and Coldwater Campground is under a mile off. For paddling, Mammoth Creek is about 3.3 miles away.
