Skyline Slab is a bouldering area in the Mountaintop Ranger District of San Bernardino National Forest, about 2 miles from Big Bear Lake. The Forest Service manages the land, and the climbing sits among a cluster of boulders and short hikes, so you can pair a session on the slab with a boulder at Skyline Boulder or a hike on Going Green, both about a tenth of a mile away. The boulders are all rated from V0- to V1, which makes this a low-grade crag for climbers who want a relatively straightforward outing. Six routes are listed, including Rock N' Roll (V0-), Party Wave (V0) and Hot Donna (V1), and they all fit the bouldering style. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Big Bear Lake weather station, about 2 miles away, show July highs around 80°F with lows near 50°F, while winter highs hover around 46°F with lows in the mid-20s. That station sits roughly 1,200 feet lower than the slab, so temperatures here run cooler. Nearby options include Turtle Trail, a hike about 0.2 miles away, and Buttercup Group Camp, about 1.3 miles out. Big Bear Lake Recreation Area, about 3 miles away, offers fishing.
