Shuteye Ridge is a climbing area in California's Sierra National Forest, within the Bass Lake Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the surrounding land, and the ridge sits just a short distance from the Pack Sta hike and the Moto Wall and Gold Eagle climbing areas, all within a quarter mile. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Huntington Lake weather station show July and August highs around 74°F with lows near 49°F and only a day or two of wet weather each month. That station sits about 1,000 feet lower, so temperatures at Shuteye Ridge run cooler. The area has 17 routes, with sport and trad styles split almost evenly. The grades range from 5.7 to 5.12c, and a few examples include Follow the Light (5.7, trad), Cat O' Nine Tails (5.11a, sport) and Roll the Dice (5.12c, sport). Nearby, Browns Meadow Trail is about a mile away, and Gaggs Camp, Soda Springs and West Fork Chiquito Creek are all within roughly three miles.
